Bordeaux City Break
on Your Surf Holidays in Moliets

Live the Good Life!

COVID is a thing of the past and we’re almost back to pre-pandemic surf camp life. Hallelujah! When you’re on surf holidays with us in Moliets, our 👉 trips to San Sebastian and Bordeaux are day trips not to be missed!

Although everyone here in Moliets loves the surf camp life, it’s nice to brush off the sand and swop our bikinis and board shorts for something a bit more fancy for a day out in the city. After a sunny morning’s surf session on Moliets’ beautiful beach, we leave our surf camp behind and arrive in Bordeaux just after 4pm.

With the warm afternoon sun still high in the sky, our first stop is generally la Place de Quinconce, a beautiful 19th-century square, centred by a bronze monument erected in memory of the fallen ‘Girondist’ fighters of the French revolution.

After a quick selfie opportunity in front of the fountain, we head towards the beautiful old part of the city. We make our way through the cobbled streets of the old city lined with petit boutique shops, bars and restaurants. There are plenty of imposing landmarks to see, such as the “Golden Triangle”, formed by three boulevards, Cours Clemenceau, Cours de L’Intendance, and AllĂ©es de Tourny, and la Place de la Bourse and the Mirroir D’eau. Head to Wikipedia to read more about each landmark!

With enough sights seen for one day, we take a detour along the river to check out one of Bordeaux’s skate parks before heading to the public gardens for a sunset picnic on the quay. Bliss!

With Bordeaux famous for its vibrant music scene, it’s not long before we stumble upon some live music venues on the waterfront and, well, no excuse will be needed to stop for a refreshing cocktail before dinner. Bordeaux seems to be one of those cities where you never know what you might discover.

One week a few years back, we came across ‘Les Epicuriales’, an annual event where a whole host of pop-up bars and restaurants are assembled in the city centre. With a live choir singing outside the cathedral, our surf team seized the opportunity and got a few more drinks and nibbles. Thank you, Bordeaux, for spoiling our surf camp team and guests over and over again!

Well, a trip to Bordeaux wouldn’t be complete without sampling some of the delicious food in one of the many beautiful restaurants off of Parliament Square and a glass or two of vin rouge – Bordeaux, of course. With most restaurants offering amazing 3-course menus for only 20€, Bordeaux most definitely makes for a food lover’s paradise – and it always leaves all of our surf camp counting the days till we can return.

With the sound of alfresco dining buzzing through the warm night breeze and our tummies filled up, it’s time to head to our final destination for the evening, a fantastic bar aptly named ‘The Houses of Parliament’.

After a few more drinks and some quality time on the dance floor, it’s time to wave goodbye to Bordeaux and to return to our lovely Moliets pine forest, to sleep and recuperate in our surf camp for another exciting day of surfing and Yoga.

Wait, you’ve never been to Bordeaux? Well, now’s the time to book yourself a trip to our Moliets Surf Camp. We look forward to discovering a new and unknown side of Bordeaux with you this summer!

HAPPY SURFING EVERYONE!
