Turning a Passion into a Career
How It All Began
Sometime in the late 2000s, we—that’s Joe, Sami, and Pablo—met at Plymouth University in southwest England, brought together by a shared passion for surfing and travel. After a few summers of teaching surfing together, we launched our first surf camp in Moliets in France in the summer of 2009. What started as a small surf camp to sleep 25 surf camp guests. has since grown into a network of surf and yoga camps across France, Spain, the Canary Islands and Morocco.
Building the Business
Like any new venture, establishing Star Surf Camps came with its challenges. From sourcing equipment and setting up our first camp to navigating the unpredictable nature of the surf industry, we faced plenty of hurdles. But our love for surfing and the community around it kept us going. Over time, we refined our camps, built strong relationships with fellow surfers, and developed a reputation for delivering high-quality surf experiences.

Since those early days, our paths have evolved. Pablo has followed his passion for photography and is now successfully pursuing a career in the field. Sami oversees the operations of our surf camps in France and Spain, traveling and surfing throughout Europe and beyond. Joe is based in the UK, running the head office and managing our surf hardware venture, Mango Surfing.
