Bring on the Summer

It’s that time of year again! Spring is springing and we are getting ready for the epic summer ahead. Our surf camp team is already in Moliets and has been busy building up our awesome surf camps ready to welcome you back from the 12th of June once all travel restrictions have been relaxed.

This year, we have plenty of exciting updates in store for you. When we say exciting updates we really mean exciting–not like Apple does when it releases the 3rd iPhone that same year.

What's new in 2021?

First of all, you may have seen our brand new tipis for our Deluxe camp. We are busy setting them up and excited to introduce a truly unique surf camp experience: bringing you the joy, nostalgia and excitement of camping whilst making it as comfortable and luxurious as possible. We don’t even know if we should call them cabins or tents, we will let you decide.

We’ve also added mobile homes to our surf camp accommodation for those who generally don’t do camping and really want that extra privacy and comfort when holidaying with the whole family or gang, These static caravans are located in a beautiful spot by our the yoga deck, slightly elevated with awesome views of the sunset from a private terrace. They also have private toilets & showers plus a fully functional kitchen and fridge, perfect for small groups and/or families. The terrace offers shade and shelter should it rain which makes them an ideal little escape whilst remaining connected to nature and all the awesome surf camp amenities.

Last year was an unpredictable one and we decided that in France we would only run one of our two camps in Moliets. This year we are super excited to say that we will be opening our main camp doors and numerous dance floors to you guys again. Home to our notorious Friday night parties, our skate ramp, live music stages and famous good vibes, our main camp will be roaring from the 26th of June. We have already set up the main platforms, refurbished the tiki bar, given the reception a tidy and once over and secured our canvas tarps in place. Roll on main camp vibes!

One thing we really did not want to do is waste any materials. Our team has done an incredible job of being creative and reusing and repurposing materials that many other surf camps simply throw away. Unfortunately, some of the canvas bell tents can get a little dirty after a few years in use and our commitment to customer service means we always want to provide new and fresh accommodation for you all. That’s why we decided to repurpose those tents this summer and expand our camp instead. We have given our tiki bar a new hat and removed the (m)old(y) roof and replaced it with a new one made from an old bell tent base. Scrubbed, pressure washed and refit these new structures are put together with local pinewood and are literally as sustainably as possible. The tops of the tents will also be repurposed as shaded chill out areas with comfy rugs to lie on, picnic tables and fairy lights to give them that warm fuzzy feeling. We are also expanding both our service and storage areas.

Staying safe is still key

Although COVID-19 is old news by now, it’s still important as ever to make sure we can all enjoy the things we have missed out on so much. Restrictions are set to be fully relaxed in France by the 9th of June. We are still improving and innovating our surf camps to make sure they are as COVID-proof as they can be to ensure we can socialise, surf, dance all summer long. Our service areas will be fitted with perspex. Our bar tops have been re-fit with wipe down surfaces, we are ordering sustainable custom face masks for all our food prep staff and, most importantly, we have created spacious social areas for everyone to enjoy together safely. If you were a bird flying over you would see our surf camps are literally twice the size of other camps in Moliets whilst only hosting half the maximum capacity. More about how we’re handling the pandemic in our surf camps here

Reassurance done, back to getting you excited: The surf conditions have been simply amazing here! If anything, since I am trying to manage the build-up team from abroad, the surf has been too good. The weather is improving and the days are getting longer by a few minutes every.single.day. Summer is literally right round the corner and we know it’s going to be an absolute classic one. Perhaps we were early starting building in March, but we are just THAT excited.

We would love to take the opportunity to say a BIG THANK YOU to our build-up team. Mike, our man in charge, is a professional carpenter and joiner and builds everything from scratch with a keen eye for detail. He has been trying to save our environment and come up with many clever ways to not throw away any waste. Sam, Sima, Regine & Steve, thank you all so much and great work on the surf camp so far, we couldn’t do it without ya legend!

We can’t wait to see you crazy kids in Moliets!
