Fuerteventura is an island paradise. With good surf all year round, waves suited to all surfing levels, volcanoes that grow out of the ocean and a culturally rich and diverse population, the island in the Atlantic Ocean is often referred to as Europe’s Hawaii. And with Fuerteventura having the sunniest and warmest climate in all of Europe, you can expect summery temperatures in- and outside the water all year round.

In our surf house on Fuerteventura, we offer modern, en-suite accommodation with bright communal areas, a large terrace and garden and beautiful mountain views. Live and surf in comfort and experience a great variety of waves to the North, East and West coast of the island.

We offer 3 levels of surf lessons and, each day, we take you to the surf spot best suited to your surfing ability, so you can really focus on improving your surfing. Across so many surf spots to choose from, the conditions in the water are perfect for everyone from first-time surfers and those looking to improve their existing surf skills, to swell-chasing veterans with years of surfing experience. 

We have chosen the El Cotillo area as a base for our surf house because it offers easy access to the famous North Track with 30+ surf spots and 270 degrees of surfable coastline, beautiful lagoons, some of the island’s best restaurants and spectacular rural views. Surf House Accommodation

Canarian surf house with far-reaching mountain views

Welcome to your surf holidays in the picturesque town of El Cotillo. Located in the Northwest of the oldest of the Canary Islands, here, you find mile-long coastlines with lagoons, white beaches and amazing waves. Plus, the charming fishing village is right by the entrance of the famous North Track which offers more than 30 surf spots along 20 km of coastline. The town centre is in walking distance to our surf house and has several bars, restaurants, cafés , a post office and supermarkets.

Our surf house is located in the El Roque neighbourhood of El Cotillo. The surf house itself is a charming Canarian house with a rustic style and a large terrace overlooking the mountains. It has 5 double bedrooms, each with a separate entrance, private terrace and a en-suite bathroom.

The communal areas include a spacious living-dining room with TV and a fully equipped open-plan kitchen that leads onto a rustic patio with seating ideal for alfresco dining and sunset drinks. The surf house also has its own yoga room, private parking and a secure area for your surf equipment. 

We also provide all our surf holiday guests with bed linen, bathroom towels and hair dryers.

Check-in time for our surf house is from 3 pm. Should you arrive earlier and your room isn’t ready, you are welcome to leave your luggage with us and explore the area.

Hang Loose Surf Package

Our Hang Loose surf holiday package is our base package. It includes 8 days/ 7 nights accommodation in a shared room with two single beds in our surf house, daily breakfast, 5 surf lessons each 3 hours long, use of all surf equipment and transfers to the beach as well as 1 surf theory session and the use of all surf house facilities.

Hang Five Surf Package

Our Hang Five surf holiday package includes everything our base package offers (accommodation, 5 surf lessons, 1 theory session, equipment, transfers, use of facilities), plus also helps you improve your surfing further with 2 surf skate lessons and 1 surf emotion lesson.

Hang Ten Surf Package

Our Hang Ten surf holiday package is the same as the above Hang Five surf package (accommodation, 5 surf lessons, 1 theory session, 2 surf skate lessons, 1 surf emotion lesson, equipment, transfers, use of facilities), plus 1 extra surf lesson (total of 6) and 6 Yoga sessions.

Surf Lessons

Here on Fuerteventura, we offer 3 different levels of surf lessons to help you improve your surfing and progress quickly while on surf holiday with us. Each lesson is 3 hours long and includes all surf equipment and transfers to the beach. The student:teacher ratio is 5:1.

Surf Skate Lesson

Skating helps you improve your surfing massively which is why we include a surf skating session in some of our surf holiday packages. Skating can be described as surfing on dry land if you like and helps you practise surf manoeuvres slowly and consciously. Our skate surf sessions are 1 hour long and include all equipment and protections. 

Surf Emotion Lesson

Another surf session on dry land that will really help your surfing progress. On a wooden board shaped like a surfboard with an adjustable base, you can practice a wide variety of balance exercises that really help with your sense of self-movement, force and body positioning to improve your performance in the water. It’s an amazing tool for everyone who wants to see progress in their surfing quickly.

Yoga Sessions

Sessions are 90 minutes long and we provide all equipment. We have a dedicated Yoga space in our surf house plus a great outdoor terrace for Yoga.

Level 1 : Beginner

Great for all surf newbies

Our Level 1: Initiation surf course is perfect for those of you who have never surfed before or have only done a few surf lessons or one surf course, but have not surfed in a while and would benefit from starting with the basics. You will be learning the technique of paddling, standing up on a surfboard in white water and how to get the timing right to catch a wave. 

During your surf lesson, our surf instructors are in the water with you, helping you catch waves to improve your surfing quickly. All our surf instructors are experienced, fully licensed and qualified and also have a lifeguarding qualification.

All our surf lessons are 3 hours long with a maximum group size of 5 surfers per 1 instructor. The surf lessons include the use of all surf equipment and the transfers to the day’s surf spot. We will always make sure to find the day’s best surf spot for your surfing ability, and our surf team is always at hand to answer any surf-related questions you might have.

Level 2 : Intermediate

Upping your surfing ability

Our Level 2: Intermediate surf course is ideal for those of you who already have good confidence in the water and have experience surfing both white and green waves, who would like help with reading waves, surfing left’s and right’s, and who want to start surfing in intermediate or even advanced surf breaks. We will focus on more advanced surfing techniques. 

During your surf lesson, our surf instructors are in the water with you, directing you into waves to help you improve your surfing as best as possible. All our surf instructors are experienced, fully licensed and qualified and also have a lifeguarding qualification.

All our surf lessons are 3 hours long with a maximum group size of 5 surfers per 1 instructor. The surf lessons include the use of all surf equipment and the transfers to the day’s surf spot. We will always make sure to find the days best surf spot for your surfing ability, and our surf team is always at hand to answer any questions you might have on your technique or the intricacies of the local point, reef or beach breaks.

Level 3 : Advanced

Improve your surfing with video analysis

Our Level 3: Advanced surf lessons start with 90 minutes of video analysis of your surfing. We film you while surfing and record your waves with high quality video equipment. Afterwards we analyse the footage, and we feedback to you what we will be focussing our attention on for the surf lessons to come. This will help you work towards improving your surfing in the short and long term.

Our advanced surf lessons include the use of all surf equipment and the transfers to the day’s surf spot. We know from experience that a lot of our surf holiday guests who book our advanced surf lessons here in Fuerteventurta like to bring their own surf equipment which we welcome.

Where to eat in El Cotillo?

Lots of restaurants and bars to choose from

El Cotillo is Fuerteventura’s foodie hotspot. The little fishing village offers you plenty of different restaurants and bars to choose from. Our surf house team can help you pick the right restaurant for your budget and tastebuds.

Among our favourite Café’s, bars and restaurants in El Cotillo are Ocean Deli for yummy fruit and veggie smoothies. El Goloso is a wonderful French bakery and their homemade almond or raspberry croissant are delicious. Then there’s Bar Central, a quaint restaurant with an authentic Canarian menu and seating out in the street and views over the old harbour. Bagus Beach Bar is popular with locals and tourists and they serve great burgers, beers and cocktails.

For a special treat, we can’t recommend enough La Capitana and La Vaca Azul. The food is amazing and the views at sunset over the rocky seafront and sea are priceless.

Breakfasts in the surf house are included in all our surf holiday packages, and we organise social dinners out with all surf house guests and staff which you are welcome to join. We have a fully equipped kitchen in the surf house which you are welcome to use to make your own food. There is also a BBQ outside on the terrace for our surf holiday guests to use. A supermarket is in walking distance to the surf house.

Things to do

El Cotillo

Welcome to your surf holidays in the picturesque fishing town of El Cotillo! Located in the Northwest of the oldest of the Canary Islands, the village boasts an old fishing habour, beautiful lagoons for swimming and snorkelling, mile-long coastlines, many independent restaurants and bars and waves right on your doorstep.

We have chosen our surf house location on Fuerteventura carefully and have found in El Cotillo a true surfer’s paradise. From our surf house, we have easy access to the famous North Track, 20 km of surfable coast with more than 30 surf spots. Our surf holiday guests can join us here on a real surf trip in search of the day’s best waves, checking surf forecasts frequently and being part of a group of fun, relaxed and like-minded surfers.

We provide transfers to all your surf lessons. If you are an advanced surfer and want to spend more time in the water, we recommend hiring a car to make the most of exploring and surfing Fuerteventura’s North Track. Hiring a car for the duration of your surfing holidays is not essential. There’s a bus stop in walking distance to the surf house. Public transport on Fuerteventura is comparatively cheap, regular and easy to use. We also have bikes for hire for you to explore the area.

Surrounding area

Great surf is not all Fuerteventura has to offer: An amazing landscape lies right in front of our surf house with volcanoes to climb and beautiful lagoons to swim and snorkel in.

Lajares and La Oliva are only a short car drive or bus ride away from El Cotillo. The villages are famous for their stone-built windmills. You’ll also find traditional Canarian shops there, a Crêperie and art galleries with handcrafted jewellery. From Lajaras, you can start a hike up Volcano Calderón Hondo which offers amazing views all the way to Lazarote.

20 km east of El Cotillo is Corralejo, today’s largest holiday resort on Fuerteventura. Corralejo is great for an afternoon and/ or evening out. There’s crazy golf, bike, motorbike and quad-bike hires, a water park and many bars along the seafront with views over the harbour. The nightlife is also worth a trip with lots of Irish bars and English pubs, karaoke or sports bars, night clubs and live music venues.

Off the coast of Corralejo you can step back in time and into an uninhabited world, on the island of los Lobos, a nature reserve. We suggest you hop on a boat in Corralejo, enjoy the stunning views back on Fuerteventura for the short ten-minute boat journey to then lay back and relax on Lobos. The beaches there are ideal for snorkelling in shallow water and, yep, there’s great surf there, too!

Further afield

The Jandia Peninsula and in particular the Sotavento lagoon are worth a day trip. For everyone interested in the history and culture of Fuerteventura, a trip to Betancuria is a must. If you’re traveling with children, the Oasis Park is great for kids of all ages. You find the most amazing beach in Cofete, caves to explore in Ajuy and the salt museum in Las Salinas del Carmen is worth a trip on a cloudy day.

Getting to the surf house

Fuerteventura’s airport near the capital city of Puerto del Rosario is serviced by all major European budget airlines.

… By Airport Shuttle

An airport shuttle from Puerto del Rosario is the easiest way to get to our surf house. We can help you arrange your shuttle from the airport directly to El Cotillo. Just get in touch with us, we’re always happy to assist you with booking your surf trip. Shuttles cost around 10€ per person, extra luggage is 15€.

… By Public Transport

From the airport, take bus No. 3 to Puerto del Rosario. From here, bus No. 6 will take you to Corralejo. Hop onto bus No. 8 which will get you to El Cotillo; simply exit at the last stop. Let us know your flight times in advance and we will meet you at the bus stop. Three times a day, there’s a direct bus from Puerto del Rosario to El Cotillo. One-way bus tickets cost around 5€.

Taxis from the airport to our surf house are around 55€.

… By Rental Car

If you’re thinking of hiring a car for the duration of your surf holiday, you can find us simply by heading north when leaving the airport. Follow signs to La Oliva first, then signs to El Cotillo. Most hire companies rent cars for as little as 80€/week.

Check-in time for our surf house is from 3 pm. All our surf holiday guests arriving earlier can drop off their luggage at at the surf house and explore El Cotillo. Check-out time is at 11 am.
