You’re looking for an awesome summer surf trip and want to go somewhere with awesome waves, amazing weather and fab people? Then Moliets is definitely the place for you! I spent a surf holiday week in Star Surf Camps’ Moliets surf camp last September and had such a good time. Here’s why:

The Southwest of France is an ideal surf holiday spot for those not wanting to travel too far for their summer holidays: cheap flights from most major UK city airports, efficient and easy transfers to the surf camp and plenty of sun, surf and sangria! Moliets has it all.

Star Surf Camps Moliets has two fab surf camps in Moliets. Their original Moliets surf camp has been going for 8 years now and provides cool tipi tent accommodation for up to 3 people with super comfy memory foam mattress for you to crash out on after a long day in the surf. This surf camp is great for every surf holiday guest wanting to be in the centre of the action. The surf camp boats a half pipe, indo boards, ping pong tables, a great deck to relax on during the day, hammocks and great daytime and A-MAZ-ING nighttime entertainment. Get ready for everything from chilled life music gigs and surf movie nights to crazy fancy dress and beer pong parties.

For surf camp guests looking for more comfort when learning to surf, Moliets Surf & Yoga is a more relaxed and bespoke surf camp. With more privacy in stylish tipi tent accommodation for just 2 surf holiday makers and more comfort on raised wooden beds, lighting and electricity, this surf camp offers more mod cons whilst still giving you that camping vibe. One of my favourite features of the Moliets Surf & Yoga camp would be the amazing yoga deck. It’s the perfect place to relax, have a nap or read a book on a lazy sunny afternoon.

If you’re after some well deserved “me”-time on your surf camp holidays, you’ll definitely want to relax and revitalize at Moliets Surf & Yoga during of one many yoga sessions. The unlimited yoga offer includes both am and pm yoga sessions on the beach or in the surf camp. The sessions are the perfect way to warm yourself up and strengthen your body before a surf lesson, or to stretch and relax before tucking into some freshly prepared food over dinner.

You can learn to surf in both surf camps with surf packages offering either 12 hours or 16 hours of surf tuition (6x 120 minutes or 6x 120 minutes of surf lessons) per person. I’ve found the surf instructors to be extremely helpful and friendly, and happy to give you tips and advice both during surf lesson time and outside of it in the surf camp. My favourite part of the day was the time that all surf camp guests had finished their surf lessons and I got to grab a surfboard and surf empty waves during evening sunset sessions. Bliss!

One of many surf camp week highlights was definitely the trip to San Sebastian in Spain. Less than 2 hours from the surf camp, San Seb is a beautiful city by the sea in Basque Country. I got to try some world class Pinxos (Northern Spain’s Tapas), Sangria on tap (yes, literally!) and dancing some really cool Spanish cars. The trip is a must when visiting either surf camp in Moliets.

The town of Moliets itself is small and quirky and internationally known for great summer vibes and a cool atmosphere. You’ve got all amenities right outside the surf camp with bars, restaurants, cafes and a couple of supermarkets only a short walk away. In the surf camp, there are plenty of opportunities and things going on for you to meet new people. Some nights surf camp guests will be exhausted from a long and sunny day on the beach and having a chilled evening with a glass of red and a surf movie. On other nights, guests and team alike will find a reason to celebrate with beers over a table tennis tournament in fancy dress. There’s always something going on. For everyone.

I had a great time joining Star Surf Camps in their summer surf camps in Moliets and am glad we’ll be working together in the future, so more surf beginners are able to learn from years of experience in an exceptional surf camp.
