Star Surf Camps support the
#IspeakBlueToo
awareness campaign for the Ocean!
And you?

… Are the five Star Surf Camps values with which we approach both teaching surfing and delivering best value surfing holidays for surf travel. To this, we are adding

for the 2018 UN World Oceans Day coming up on June, 8th, because at Star Surf Camps we prioritise respecting the environment. We are supporting the #IspeakBlueToo campaign, an initiative launched by Eve Isambourg in support of the 2018 UN World Oceans Day.

A Human Wave of Individuals Raising their Voices for a Voiceless Ocean.

We’ve met the wonderful Eve last year when she was working in our Summer Surf Camp in Moliets. In the interview below she tells us all about her initiative, #IspeakBlueToo.

Hi Eve! First of all, why don’t you introduce yourself and tell us a little more about yourself and your background?

Bonjour à tous! My name is Eve Isambourg, I am almost 20 years old and French. I was born on the northern French coast, but grew up on Mauritius Island, raised side by side with the Ocean. I’ve lived in Paris for two years now, studying International Relations at the University of Sciences Po Paris, specialising in Environmental Policies, Sustainable Development Pathways and Photography. It’s been more than a year now since I know I really want to dedicate my professional carrier to environmental issues, acting for change and raising awareness to protect our planet.

What’s the aim of the #IspeakBlueToo campaign, Eve?

I want to inform people about ocean conservation, the ways our oceans being threatened and to encourage people to take concrete action. Being a practical and essential tool for action, I am very interested in environmental communication as a field of study. Being a voice for our environment and especially for our oceans is something dear to my heart. Here’s a recent video I’ve made revealing my wish to act for what I think is right:

I also really love writing and photography. Those passions encouraged me to start blogging. I am launching a campaign called #IspeakBlueToo. It is a social media campaign for the ocean and, more precisely, in support of the UN World Oceans Day celebrated this year on the June, 8th 2018. Supported by The Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission of UNESCO and dozens of NGOs world-wide, the aim is to raise awareness and mobilize civil society to change the state of the ocean. To realise that whoever we might be or wherever we might live in the world, we share the same Blue Planet and the same Ocean even though we use different names for them.

This sounds great, Eve! Where does your inspiration come from?

“In my moments of doubt, I’ve told myself firmly… ‘If not me, who? If now now, when?”

A lot of women might remember the inspiring speech of Emma Watson gave when she launched her United Nations equality campaign #HeForShe in 2014. This campaign inspired me to launch #IspeakBlueToo. I want to fight for what I love and for what I think is right. And “Healthy Oceans” are my fight. But I cannot do it on my own. But together, we can. This is why, I’ve decided to launch a social media campaign for more people to raise awareness and to get people involved in protecting something we all share and care about, our Blue Planet.

Eve, how can our surf holiday guests take part in this ‘human wave’?

It’s really simple! We’re using the power of social networks in 3 EASY STEPS:

1.  On a recycled piece of paper, write YOUR NAME + YOUR MOTHER TONGUE + #IspeakBlueToo.

2. Take a picture of yourself and your poster and share it on your social networks with the #IspeakBlueToo hashtag.

3. Send your picture to IspeakBlueToo@gmail.com or our Facebook or Instagram Page to be reposted.

Please also ask your friends and family to take part in the movement!

This seems easy enough! Eve, any last words you’d like to send our surf holiday guests off with?

Yes! The Ocean cannot speak, but we are its spokesperson. Even if we speak different languages, we all speak blue and #IspeakBlueToo.

Thank you so much for you attention and for caring!

Waves of Joy to all of You,

Eve Isambourg
