From University Surfing Holiday Guest to Surf Camp Teamer

Returning to Star Surf Camps' Moliets surf camp as a teamer after a University surfing holiday

Having spent the first week of the summer at Star Surf Camps Moliets on a university surf trip, it only seemed fitting to go back for more right?! So at the end of my summer, after traveling around the USA and Mexico, I decided to go back and help out at the surf camp as a teamer! That decision turned into the best decision of the summer!

As I arrived back in surf camp it was like I’d never left. Although the teamers had changed over and old faces had moved on, I soon settled back into a routine of surf camp life, only this time, I got another perspective. With the daily surf camp roles of serving food, cleaning the camp and helping the chefs out with dinner, it really is a brilliant role and the location of work seems all worth it. My daily tasks ranged from preparing breakfast in the morning under the pine forest trees, with my surf camp teamer friends to serve to our surf holiday guests (who also end up being your friends) – it doesn’t really seem like hard work when it’s so fun! To serving dinner in the evening and helping set up the entertainment for the night. I really enjoyed the amazing food that was presented and watching the happy faces dig in, as I; a satisfied teamer then got to eat the same delicious food.

With the role of a surf camp teamer you get as much time off as you work, so it was so much fun being on shift with like-minded people, to then make bonds and friendships that you could then share in your time off – whether that being sunset surfs or joining in the morning or afternoon yoga sessions, or even having a chilled one sat around the communal areas. Not to mention the many a volleyball tournament that was played in between surf sessions!

The Moliets surf camp family included a diverse range of individuals, with many international personalities, I felt so lucky that in one work place that I’d managed to meet so many new people from all over the world, including Spanish ‘los chicos’, Dutch, French and Swedish to name a few. I loved getting to know everyone and their cultures, with each adding some great diversity to the surf camp! It was so amazing how so many different people could connect over a desired surfing lifestyle and ways of living. From this creating a desirable and extremely fun place to work!

Overall, as well as getting a BANGIN’ TAN, I thoroughly enjoyed my time as a surf camp teamer and would definitely go back to work again! The social connections you make are life long and the work networking possibilities are vast. As well as an incredible time with many Shaka’s shared! I have definitely caught the ‘Summer Season’ bug!!

If you’ve got what it takes to work a surfing holiday season in a surf camp in France or Spain, check out our surf camp positions here. You’ve got until the 7th of April 2018 to become part of our international surfing family!
