En route to Biarritz we stopped at the Hossegor outlet stores. Hossegor is the European headquarters for all the great surfing brands including Ripcurl and Billabong; some great bargains on boards, wetsuits and any other surfing merchandise can be found.

After exhausting ourselves and our wallets at the outlet stores we hopped back in the car for a short drive to Biarritz and enjoyed a delicious sunset picnic soaking up the incredible views of the city with the backdrop of the Biarritz lighthouse.

Once our tummies were satisfied we wandered up and down the coast path taking in the breathtaking scenery making our way to the cliff jumping location. Unfortunately, (but to the relief of some of us), the tides weren’t right at the time to jump but don’t worry we’ll be back another time to take the leap!

We then ventured back into the town centre and enjoyed some drinks and the wonderful sounds of the local band, BlueFunKT, whose great set has been heard often at our local bar L’Open (although potentially one too many flunkyball beers made those memories rather hazy). The shopaholics amongst us continued to explore the wonderful boutiques and souvenir shops that were open late into the evening and had us all delving into our pockets for the last of our Euros.

Olivia, who’s visiting our Surfcamp in Moliets for her 3rd year running said the trip was a great addition to the week. “It was great to experience the French seaside culture and mingling amongst the local holidaymakers. Truly felt like we were in France!“

I asked people which they preferred San Sebastian or Biarritz and although San Sebastian is without a doubt an absolutely incredible city there’s something about the atmosphere of Biarritz and the amazing energy of the place that had us sold.
