For 5 days every year in August, the city of Bayonne turns into a massive street festival and, each year, we take our Moliets surf camp to be part of these amazing festivities! This year, there’s nothing else for me to say but, “Thank you, Bayonne!”, it was INCREDIBLE!

Whenever a party requires a ‘costume’, you can pretty much be sure that it’s going to be an epic celebration! Dressed up in traditional white with a red scarf, our Moliets crew and surf holiday guests turned up in Bayonne to the opening celebrations on Wednesday and the closing celebrations last Sunday – Yes, we did the trip twice! That’s how good it was!

The opening celebrations began with some fantastic live music gigs, were followed by the famous dropping of the keys by the festival’s mascot, King Leon, and ended with a massive celebration and a stunning firework display lighting up the sky above the city. The closing party was just as epic with more incredible fireworks, buckets full of sangria and wine, a parade of musicians alongside the river and uncountable circles of people dancing the night away.

Bayonne’s vibrant atmosphere when thousands of people are partying is almost indescribable. It’s just an epic celebration of life! All of us in Moliets have yet to shut up talking about the Fetes de Bayonne or, as we call it, the best night of our lives EVER! We’re already stoked for next year!
