Welcome to Oyambre, Cantabria—undoubtedly one of the most beautiful places in Europe! We’re lucky to have our surf camp in Spain located in this stunning area. Oyambre offers beautiful beaches, a natural park, rolling hills, mountain views, historic towns, and, in the summer, lots of sunshine and easy waves.
At our surf camp, we offer hearty breakfasts and social dinners prepared by our in-house chef. But the variety and quality of local food are so great we had to share our top restaurant picks—all within walking distance of Oyambre Beach.
1. El Pajaro Amarillo
Location, location, location! This beachside restaurant is perfect for a laid-back lunch with a beer in hand and a seafood paella on the table. Highlights include calamari, paella, bocadillos, and schnitzels. While vegan options are limited, the sunny vibes and sea views make it a must-visit.
2. Yepah! Bar
Located near Gerra Beach, Yepah! Bar is a favorite among surfers for its tapas, wraps, burgers, and live music. Vegetarian and vegan options are available, making it a welcoming spot for all. Don’t miss the sunset parties and art exhibitions!
3. Restaurante Chiringuito Meron
Known as “The BBQ Spot,” this beachfront eatery is perfect for meat lovers. The mixed grill, steaks, and fresh seafood are highlights, with all produce sourced locally from the lush Cantabrian hills. It’s the ideal post-surfing feast.
4. El Rayo Verde
Nicknamed “The Sunset Spot,” this hilltop restaurant offers jaw-dropping views of Gerra, Meron, and San Vicente Bay. With food trucks serving everything from wagyu beef burgers to artisan sushi, it’s a treat for vegans, vegetarians, and meat lovers alike.
5. Star Surf Camps
We couldn’t leave out a shoutout to our in-house chef, Carlos, who serves up delicious breakfasts and communal dinners four nights a week. For a mix of catered meals and exploring local culinary gems, our surf camp is the perfect choice!
