Our wonderful surf and yoga camp is situated in Carcans on the west coast of France, close to Bordeaux and Lacanau.

Do you want to learn to surf, practice yoga and meet other travellers from all over the world? Then join us in our Carcans surf camp, set in the beautiful French pine forests our surf camp is made up of comfortable guest tents, a large seating area for eating and entertaining, great chill areas, yoga tent and of course the surf equipment tent. We have hammocks, beach cruiser bikes, mountain bikes, yoga and exercise equipment and of course table tennis all free to use. Our newest addition to 2014 is the beautiful outdoor cinema where we play surf movies most evenings, getting excited for the next days surfing. Check our musician weeks where we have special gigs planned within the camp from travelling bands from across Europe.

Surflessons, Accommodation & Yoga included

In our weekly surf packages the surflessons (5x 120 minutes) as well as the shared tent accommodation is included already. So is the Yoga. You will have 3 lessons a week included. If you want more than that you can book extra lessons at the campsite directly.

Stay a second week

To get the full surf-holiday flair why not staying a second week? You can improve your surfing and Yoga skills a bit more enjoy for a few days longer the relaxing atmosphere in the Carcans pine-forests.

Shared tent accommodation included

Share the tent with up to 2 other guests in your own sleeping compartment. This compartment is separate and lockable (don’t forget to bring your padlock) and comes with a comfortable airbed mattress. In the middle of the tent you have enough space to store your luggage or to relax and read a book.

Upgrade to more privacy:
Couples tents can be added for €15 pp/week.
Our Couples tents are comfortable tents for private use with one sleeping compartment and a spacious place in front of the tent to store your belongings. It has a double-bed airbed in it, so you don’t have to sleep separated. This tent can only be booked for 2 people.

10 hours included in your package

Our camp stays in the water the longest: 5x 120 minutes of surfing throughout the week. We only work with qualified and fully licensed surf coaches that are absolutely passionate about surfing. They also hold a lifeguard license and will make sure that you’ll have a great time in the water. All surf equipment is included in- and outside the surf lessons.

Improve your surfing as much as possible whilst with us here in Carcans then we highly recommend the Surfer’s Delight Packages.

Designed to improve your surfing as quickly as possible and provide you with a solid understanding of the fundamentals of surfing, oceanography, surf safety, surf equipment and travel. The Surfer’s Delight course allows 5 additional hours of surf tuition with your surf instructor.These lessons take a much more serious approach, as a result you receive more focused guidance but above all that extra determination and support to catch a few more good waves everyday.

Yoga is included already

Yoga is a big part of the surf camp in Carcans. This doesn’t mean your forced to participate but it is there and free for all to help you improve your flexibility, core strength and of course your surfing! Yoga has taken over the surfing world with all professional surfers using yoga to help improve their flexibility, core strength and surfing performance. We teach 3x 60 minutes Vinyasa Flow Yoga.

Your healthy food package included per person/week

The food package includes 7x a large breakfast buffet with a variation of: fresh bread, fruit, cereals, jam, honey, butter, cheese, ham, salami, orange juice, cakes, milk, tea and coffee. There you can get your packed lunch for the beach.

On 6 nights a week dinner is included. Our onsite chef will prepare a fresh and delicious dinner that we all eat together. Vegetarian and Vegan options are available upon request.

We also have a shop on site selling ice creams, snacks, chocolate bars and treats. Please specify when booking with us, any allergies or eating preferences you may have.

Unique to Carcans our yoga courses are free to everyone, each guest receives a minimum of 3 yoga sessions per week, helping you improve your surfing and relax on your surfing holiday.

Carcans is a quieter and more relaxed surf camp compared to our other surf camp in Moliets. Of course we still know how to have a great time but the emphasis of the camp is about creating a relaxed, fun and friendly atmosphere, enjoying yoga and surfing as much as possible. We are only 100 meters from the beach right behind the sand dune and all surf equipment is free to use outside of lesson times so this is by far the best camp for waking up early for a morning surf to beat the crowds and using your free time to focus on improving your surfing. Carcans is not just about the waves, it is also a beautiful beachside town with restaurants and shops along the promenade of the beach for you to explore. Bikes and sports equipment are free to use and entertainment is often arranged by our camp team to make sure you have an exciting and enjoyable stay.

With wine and cheese evenings, surf movie nights, guitar sessions on the beach and sunset yoga and more a holiday with us in Carcans provides the perfect balance of fun, excitement, sport, relaxation and adventure. We welcome guests of all ages but recommend those who want to party until the early hours to visit our Party and Surf Camp in Moliets. Accommodation:

We have two different accommodation tents, our couples tents have a large double bedroom with comfortable double airbed and a separate storage/changing compartment. In our other tents each person shares a large six-man tent between three people with each person in their own separate sleeping compartments. There is also 5 square meters of free space in between each “bedroom” for storage, changing or dining. A large inflatable mattress is provided but we recommend bringing your own sleeping bag/sheets and pillow and a flashlight.

Food

Our food consists of a large buffet style breakfast and a picnic lunch, followed by a fantastic evening meal. You can expect a range of delicious pastas, salads, BBQs, and other dishes.

All meals are eaten communally – this forms one of the highlights of the trip and is a great time to sit down and meet new people. Once a week our chef has an evening off, breakfast and lunch is still provided but on this evening we explore the fantastic local restaurants, pizzerias and cafe’s.

Surf Deluxe Course:

Most surfers agree the key to improving your surfing is spending more time in the water and being surrounded by other surfers each pushing one another to reach their personal goals. See our Surf Lessons page for more information.

Yoga

At Star Surf Camps we make yoga fun and accessible to all, you do not need to be a professional sportsman or woman to see the positive effects that yoga delivers. Your three sessions are free and additional lessons and yoga sessions can be booked directly with our yoga instructor upon request in the surf camp.

Transfers

Times vary depending on the groups arrival and departure times which can sometimes result in delays. We do our best to ensure these are kept to a minimum but with guests arriving from all over the world it is impossible to set these times in advance. The flexibility allows us to meet the groups needs as best we can. We highly recommend all guests visiting us in Carcans to research car sharing, hire cars or simply driving yourself in order to be able to explore the amazing surrounding country side and cities close by such as the incredible Bordeaux and Lacanau. We have a dedicated car sharing Facebook Carsharing page. If you would like to reserve a space in one of our shuttles simply add it to your booking.

Can I also arrive on other days?
Our camp is always running from Saturday to Saturday.

Which Camp is the best for me?
It always depends what you expect and what you’re after. Generally our Moliets Camp is more a party and fun surfcamp with an average age of guests between 18 – 25 years. Of course we are more than happy to have people around that are older but we just want to give an impression of what to expect in the Moliets Camp.

Our Carcans Camp is a bit smaller and a lot more relaxed than the Moliets Party Camp. The focus in Carcans is on Surfing, Yoga and Relaxation. That’s why we’ve included the Yoga lessons already to the surf package. Enjoy the quiet atmosphere at the campsite that is directly located on the beach along a beautiful Pine Forest. The average age here is between 23 – 32 years. Most of our guests are beginner and approx. 50% are travelling on their own.

At what time do we have to be at the Camps?
Please make sure to not arrive on a Saturday before 10am. People who come with the Star Bus operated by Quiksilver Express can come to the camp whenever they arrive here. Check-out is on Saturday at 11:00am but you still can stay at our campsite and enjoy the day on the beach but the tents needs to be empty by that time.

Do you offer transport to the Camps?
Yes we offer transport only on Saturdays. From Bordeaux to our Carcans Camp only for €55 return.
The pick up times in Bordeaux are this year at pick up Bordeaux airport 11:00 and 18:00
pick up Bordeaux train station 12:00 and 19:00
drop off Bordeaux – leave the camp at 09:30 and 16:30
Meeting point at the airport is the bus station next to the Ryan Air Terminal. At the train station we meet at the bus terminal. Make sure you give us a call on the number provided in case of any delays.
For our Moliets Camp we can pick you up at Biarritz for €55 or Dax for €35. The transfer schedule this year is:

pick up Biarritz airport: 09:00, 16:00
pick up Biarritz train station: 09:30, 16:30
pick up Dax: 10:00, 14:00 and 18:00
drop off Biarritz – leaving the camp at: 07:00, 12:00
Meeting point for Biarritz airport & Biarritz train station: in front of the car hire places. In Dax we meet at the carpark right in front of the exit. Make sure you give us a call on the number provided in case of any delays.
All prices are per person/return including the pick up and drop off (return).

How to get to Moliets?
Getting to the camping from the A63, coming from Bayonne: Take the exit 10 toward Soustons/Vieux-Boucau/Saint-Geours-de-Maremne/Seignosse and follow the signs Souston, Vieux Boucau, Messange, Moliets, Moliets-et-Maa. Camping Les Cigales will be at your left hand arriving at the beachvillage. Getting to the camping from the A63, coming from Bordeaux: Take the exit 12 toward Dax, Vielle Saint-Girons,Moliets-et-Maa, Leon. Follow the signs to Leon, Moliets, Moliets-et Maa. Camping Les Cigales will be at your left hand arriving at the beachvillage. Getting to the campsite from the camping entrance: Drive/walk in, turn directly right, go straight on for at least 50 meters, and then take the first turn to the left (their is a mobile home on the left corner and a streetlight). Then follow the road and turn directly right, in front of the toiletblock. Follow the road uphill untill you see the starsurf flags (about 100m).

How is transport with Star Bus working?
We offer transfer with the Star Bus from major cities in Germany (Hamburg, Berlin, Hannover, Halle/Leipzig, Köln, Würzburg, Saarbrücken, Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Freiburg und München). Any bookings with Star Bus are subject to availability. Also our partner is free to change the pick up cities up to two weeks before arrival. See our Terms and Conditions for more information. As we work with an agent to book the buses, Star Surf Camps are unable to reserve seats without full payment upon booking. Therefore for any reservation including bus transport payment must be sent immediately for the best chance of securing a seat. Star Surf Camps accepts no responsibility for delayed payments or unavailable seats as availability changes from one day to the next.
The buses leave Germany already on Friday to arrive at the Camps on Saturday morning. The buses will leave late night on the Saturday after to make sure you can enjoy the full week. They will be back in Germany on Sunday morning.

What other options of transport do I have?
Have a look for cheap flights to Bordeaux airport (for the Carcans Camp) or to Biarritz airport (for the Moliets Camp) on Skyscanner or look for some other international bus connections. If you want to come by public transport please contact us first and we’ll be happy to help you with that. Additionally, you could check if there are any useful lifts from Spain to Bordeaux or Bordeaux to Carcans for you on www.blablacar.fr

What do I have to bring?
Next to your personal things you need to bring the following to our camps: towel, sunscreen, sleeping bag, pillow, cutlery, cup and plate, a torch, maybe padlock to lock your tent and a USB stick to get all the surf photos in Moliets. We provide comfortable  air-mattresses in all tents for you.

Is surf equipment in- and outside the lessons included?
We provide the surf equipment (wetsuit, board and leash) for everyone – this is already included in the price. Outside the lessons the equipment is free to use subject to availability: first come, first serve. We have a huge variation of foam boards that are perfect for beginners. Additionally we have a range of several sizes of BIC hard boards starting from 6′ to 8′. We also have high quality wetsuits for you to use for free.

Is the camp close to the beach?
Yes. Both camps – Carcans and Moliets – are close to the beach and for your lessons you walk there daily.

Do you offer several food options?
Yes. Our chef can provide vegetarian and vegan food. However please speak to us regarding specific requirements first. Whenever we can we give our best to make it possible.

Are drinks included in the food option and do I have the chance to cook on my own?
We offer a range of juices and water for breakfast which is included in the price. However other drinks than that can be bought in our Camp Shop or in the supermarket closeby. Unfortunately you can’t cook for yourself in our camp as the kitchen is for our chef only. In all your packages the food is already included.

We already stay somewhere else. Can we book just lessons with you?
Yes you could book lessons only. Please talk to our staff about the prices and how to arrange that by sending an email to our team. Unfortunately it is not possible to join the camp activities or have food with us as this is only for guests that have booked the package.
