Here at Star Surf Camps we are really conscious about how we treat our environment, both on and off the water. On your next family surfing holiday or group surf holiday with friends you will notice big and little things we do to preserve our wonderful playground and to help educate everyone on ways they can help too.
Recycled & Locally Sourced Materials
In our surf camps we strive to create a minimal impact environment, where we use locally sourced and recycled materials to build our surf camp structures, making cool, funky chill out areas for your surfing holiday. One of our owners explains about how they created the surf camps this season to make your surfing holiday the best yet!
“Upcycling and using natural materials was key to the vision so here’s what we did!
Being located in a gorgeous pine forest area, pine is pretty easy to come by, so we started off by sourcing locally for our chill out and dining area, which is created from solid pine wood infrastructure with pine crossbeams. We used outdoor treated pine decking so that we would not have to replace the deck for a while and then sanded it down with a lot of TLC to a comfy flooring that feels great to the barefoot.
Bamboo is featured too; the most environmentally friendly and sustainable wood on the planet, in our dining areas and Deluxe Surf Camp luxury bell tents, with upcycled pallets forming some of the structure of the raised wooden beds!”
Reduce Plastic Usage!
A huge environmental issue within the surfing world is plastic usage and reducing this as much as possible, therefore on your surfing holiday we provide you the opportunity to buy one of our fabulous Star Surf Camp water canteens to fill up and refill before heading down for a day at the beach. A great surfing holiday souvenir too!
Beach Clean Ups
We are very proud of the surfing spots that we offer for your surfing holiday and more and more commonly, beaches are filling up with rubbish that is being brought to shore from the ocean; plastic bags, cigarette butts, polystyrene packaging, fishing wire. To combat this we organise regular beach cleans for all our guests and other local surf camps to get involved and make a difference. This can really help educate people to realise the how much waste is washed up and how this can affect the ocean and its inhabitants.
Supporting Local Charities
At Star Surf Camps we support charities working towards helping maintain our beautiful surfing holiday spots and educating surfers and non-surfers alike about the importance of looking after our playground.
