First things first: As with packing for any trip, be realistic about what you need for your destination and always pack light!
- Your Surfboard(s). It is always best to choose your most versatile boards as the conditions and surf are ever changing.
- Wax. Make sure you have the correct wax for where you a travelling, hard wax for hot countries and soft wax for milder countries.
- Leash. Remember a spare!
- Wetsuit. Make sure your take the right thickness for where you are headed, if it’s cold sometimes taking two is a good idea so one can dry while you are wearing the other!
- Rash vest. When heading to warmer waters a rash vest or thin tees are essential to prevent horrific sunburn and of course rashes!
- Board shorts. Choose wisely, function over fashion will win any day when you are comfortable in the water.
- Surfboard Repair Kit. A small ding repair kit containing resin will be a saviour if you damage your board while away.
-Spare Fins and Fin Keys. Always remember multiple fin keys, they will go missing, guaranteed!
- Sunscreen. Sunburn is not fun. Make sure you choose one with a high SPF which is also waterproof!
- First Aid Kit. Antiseptic cream, Vaseline, plasters and painkillers are a must.
- Roof Straps. Trying to attach your board to a taxi abroad is always interesting if you haven’t bought any straps.
- Duct Tape. A strong bit of tape can fix anything, trust us!
- Insect Repellant. Those pesky mosquitos will try and eat you alive.
– Multi Tool. So many useful things that you never knew you needed until now.
– Reef boots. If you are surfing reef breaks then reef boots will be the key to preventing cut feet that result in missed surfs!
