Thinking of February in central Europe is rather dreadful: long, grey and rainy days, an hour of sunshine per week, if you’re lucky, winter seems to have been going on forever and sunny summer surf holidays are nothing but distant memories.

Not so on the wonderfully sunny Canaries! In the month of February, Fuerteventura and her sister islands are alive in the spirit of Carnival! In fact, the carnival of Tenerife is the biggest in Europe and second biggest in the world, right after the famous carnival in Rio de Janeiro.

The biggest parties might take place on Tenerife, however, the best ones you definitely find on our island paradise that is Fuerteventura. The streets of the surfing mecca fill up with happy people, dressed in all colours of the world, you get exciting exhibitions, crazy competitions, live music events and uncountable stalls with local drinks and food.

But Fuerteventura in February isn’t just Carnival. Each year, February brings amazing surf to the island, perfect for a surfing holiday. And where better to stay than in El Cotillo?
