If, for once, there isn’t a fiesta going on, we’re not surfing, on an SUP tour, exploring El Cotillo and Fuerte’s North or doing other cool, adventurous stuff, one could think we get bored here. Ha, no way! Surf holidays at our surf house in Fuerteventura always have surprises in store for you! And last week, we had a very special guest staying with us: the wonderful, magical, legendary Merlin, reporter for the Estonian Cosmopolitan.
Merlin stayed with us for a week, tasting authentic Canarian food together with our surf holiday guests from the surf house, catching her first waves at El Cotillo’s beach in the wild Atlantic Ocean and enjoying the sunsets on the beach with a Yoga session. Her “mission”, as she said, was not only to capture the life and work in a surf camp, but the lifestyle of surfing which, apparently, couldn’t be any further away from the life of a young Estonian. For her “research”, she visited everyone from our surf team during a shift, and interviewed us about our everyday surfing life, what it’s like to work for a surf travel company and how we all got caught living the surfing lifestyle. Her last questions, where we see ourselves in 5 years from now, clearly, was the most exciting. For me the answer is easy: Somewhere near the ocean and waves, with a family of my own, a house and a dog or two, still living the surfing dream of salt in the air, sand in my hair!
Before leaving our El Cotillo and the island, Merlin had one more job to do: get the best pics of our little paradise. And who else could be better for that job than our every own professional photographer, Pablo Prieto?! The two went around the island and got some amazing shots that will make you fall in love with this place. But, see for yourself!
It’s been an exciting surf camp week for all of us here on Fuerteventura! A huge THANK YOU to the fantastic Merlin, our models, surf holiday guests and everyone else who was part of it. We’re all very excited to read next month’s Cosmo! …. Well, a translation of it, of course! ;)
Happy Surfing, Everyone!
Until next time,
Amelie & the Star Surf Camps Team Fuerteventura
