From Moliets to Plymouth

Welcome, Justine!

Hello Everyone, I’m Justine, your new Booking Manager at Star Surf! Originally from Germany, I now live in Plymouth, UK to take care of all you guys’ inquires and bookings. Feel free to email me at justine@starsurfcamps.com or call at +44 20 8133 5337. I will l always do my best to help you with everything surf holiday related.

I was born and raised in a small village near Cologne in a German-, English- and French-speaking household. I was a pretty happy kid surrounded by my truly amazing family, friends and a lot of pets. It’s always been very important to my parents that me and my siblings got to see the world, and I feel really blessed to have been traveling as much as I have. What I love most about seeing new places and discovering unknown holiday destinations is meeting new people from different countries and backgrounds.

Ending up working for a surf travel company is therefore not far-fetched, you think? Hmm, kind of as I really only blundered into the world of surfing about three years ago. Surfing, by all means, had never been a part of my life. I did not grow up near the beach or the sea, and I also didn’t have friends or family members that were surfers (at least not that I know of). To be honest, a few years ago, surfing for me was really just word I came across in my language workbook when Julien talks about this hobbies (“Je fais du surf chaque été” – thanks, Découvertes!).

My obsession of being close to the ocean as much as I can started three years ago. Back then, I had finished an apprenticeship as commercial assistant in modern languages, but felt a little lost as I didn’t know what I wanted to do next. A friend of mine suggested a surf holiday to help me clear my head, and that’s when Moliets and Star Surf Camps first came into my life. Our relaxing, sun-filled holiday quickly turned into one of my best travel experiences ever, meeting what is now my new work family. A surf beginners, I was pretty scared of surfing at first, but instantly loved everything about this amazing sport once I stood up on a surfboard for the first time.

After ten fantastic surf holiday days full of sunshine, great waves, epic parties and awesome people, I knew I didn’t just want to leave this paradise as I had found something I wanted to dedicate my time to. Thanks to speaking three languages, I found a job at the campsite’s reception where I’ve been working now for the last three summer seasons. And for those three summers, I’ve also been the point of contact for Star Surf.

This past summer surf season has been my last one in beautiful, vibrant Moliets and I‘m very grateful for everything I’ve learned over the past years. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end, and I’m incredibly excited for my new English life ahead of me. I’m looking forward to being part of an awesome team, to learn more about surfing and what it’s like to be behind the scenes of surf travel and, of course, to surfing England’s incredible waves! And that I will still be working with people from my beloved Moliets surely is a big bonus, too. Starting to work for Star Surf is simply like a dream come true!

This is all from me for now. I’m looking forward to hearing from all of you soon!

Cheers guys,

Justine
