For all of you who don’t know Rich yet, he’s Star Surf’s European head surf instructor in beautiful Carcans. When he’s not ripping on his twinny or teaching surf beginners how to do so, he’s singing and strumming his Ukulele, and man, he sure is talented! He did a European tour around all our Star Surf Camps to celebrate the release of his new and totally awesome EP, “Await the Sunset”.

His first date at Moliets was the 13th of August, which happened to coincide with one of the biggest storm we’ve ever experienced in our 6 years of running our Moliets surf camp. Luckily, our back-up plan of having Rich and his band play in L’Open, the local bar, worked out perfectly, and our team and legendary guests had an amazing time at his show!

Kicking things off with his incredible voice was George Holroyd, warming the crowd up from the ranging storm outside. It was then time for Richard Morris’ first Moliets show and what an amazing one it was! He got the crowd singing, boogying and even dancing in their underwear for his legendary ‘Underpants Song’. The energy shifted from thoughtful and melodic to everyone dancing and singing from the top of their lungs – just incredible!

After that first show, we were already stoked for the one next week! This time, all our Star surfers were treated to gorgeous weather and an outdoor stage on our skate ramp. George came on just as the sun was starting to set, turning the whole campsite into a festival feel! Rich and his 8-piece band then came bursting onto the stage, with people surrounding them dancing, partying and soaking up the atmosphere! With an awesome evening going ahead and a crazy raffle prize to win a free trip to our surf camp in Fuerteventura for an epic week of surf and good weather all year round, we all danced and partied well into the early hours of the next day!

This week’s horrible storm could have easily turned our surf holiday week into a disaster. Instead, thanks to Richard Morris, his band and George Holroyd, it was one of the best weeks we EVER had in Moliets! Definitely having these legends over again next year!
