UK Singer/ Songwriter Richard Morris is the proud European Surf Manager of our Star Surf Family. He might have taught you surfing amongst the perfect waves of southwest France, or maybe you’ll have the pleasure of joining him in one of his lessons when you’re coming out to our Surf & Yoga camp in Carcans in the next few weeks.
After 7 years of living the surfing life and coaching surfing all over the world, back in November of last year, Rich decided it was time to spend some time out of the ocean, cleaning the sand off his toes and hair and pursuing his passion for music. That’s when he headed to the studio to record his very first studio album!
We are proud and excited to announce that next week, he’ll be releasing his first Debut EP, “Await the Sunset”. To celebrate this release and to help him get his incredible record out to the world, we’re sending Rich and his full 7-piece band on a European tour across our Star Surf Camps in France and Spain! If you’re lucky enough to be at one of our surf camps next week, be prepared for some fantastic nights of passionate musicianship and the warming sounds of this upcoming singer/songwriter.
“Await the Sunset” has already attracted the BBC’s attention when Richard was invited to BBC Isle of Wight Radio earlier this year and immediately won the coveted “Record of the week”-award. He later joined Katie Martin’s The Afternoon Show on BBC Radio Solent to talk about his sold-out headline show in April and the premiere of his single, “What Is Love” (definitely everyone’s favourite so far!). The EP was also featured collaboratively in Eurostar’s promotional video for the hugely successful launch of their official London Instagram account – it’s got a whopping 1.3 million followers!
Future plans will see the EP feature in The Wave Bristol’s new promotional video for their artificial wave, the first of its kind in England. If you should miss Rich and his band on their surf camp tour, you can catch them on September 19th at the Seafront Sessions in Portsmouth where they’ll be sharing the stage with the talented Jim Rubaduka from The Intermission Project. It’s impressive to see all these wonderful things happening to Rich and his band even before the EP’s official release! We’ve already heard it, absolutely love it and are sure you and everyone else will want it on their playlist soon, too!
We can’t wait to watch and listen to our good friend and colleague when he’s joining us next week, and we’re all looking forward to following him on more of his musical adventure!
