If you visited our Star Surf Camp in Carcans last summer you may have been lucky enough to enjoy one of our acoustic nights. Two of the most regular performers were members of our own staff, Richard Morris and George Holroyd. Richard was our Head Instructor last year in Carcans and returns this season to proudly take up an even bigger role within our family as European Surf Manager, whilst George was one of our most loved members on the Teamers staff looking after everyone after a hard days surfing! After leaving the camp at the end of the summer these two went their separate ways and we are super excited to announce they are joining forces and the music they were playing on our stage is seeing them skyline a sure path to success in the UK and France.
Let’s start with George. After returning home, George decided it was time to record his Debut EP “Peru”. After playing a SOLD OUT release party in the Bodega in Nottingham his EP rocketed into the Top 10 iTunes Singer-Songwriter chart which led to appearances on Notts.TV, BBC Introducing and won him Release Of The Week from Nusic.org! Woah! That’s just the start of it, he now has a follow up release planned for the late spring with a host of shows littered across the summer months!
If that’s not exciting enough for the Star family and friends, then let’s have a look at Richard. After leaving the camp he bummed about in a van for 3 weeks making the most of the October swell (as you do) then ventured home also to record his 6 track Debut EP “Await The Sunset”. He immediately earned himself Record Of The Week on Isle Of Wight Radio, and set off for a host of winter shows in the French Alps. Whilst there he became hugely successful with the boozing Aprés fans and on returning home quickly signed to a release label and has just announced his first Headline Show on April 18th. Guess who he’s bringing along to support him on the evening…George Holroyd! Richard is hosting the evening in the beautiful 500 year old Square Tower in Old Portsmouth, which will see him bringing to the stage his brand new band for the first time to officially launch the EP for Pre-Order! With a tour planned in the summer through France and Spain to release the Debut EP we can’t wait to see what happens!
