Welcome to beautiful Morocco

Surf camp location

Our surf house is located in Aourir, a village situated along the coastline of the southern part of Morocco. It’s near the city of Agadir which is a popular tourist destination. Aourir is often referred to as Banana Village due to the banana plantations in the area. It’s known for its relaxed atmosphere, beautiful beaches and proximity to excellent surf spots along the Atlantic Ocean.

Surf for every ability level

Right in front of our surf house is our local surf spot. It’s a left-hander called K11 just 300 meters walk away. A quick 5-minute journey takes you to the nearest point break and legendary surf spots, such as Anchor Point, Killer Point and Boilers are all in easy driving distance. And with our team of seasoned surf instructors on hand to guide you, we’ll make sure you get to surf the right spot for your ability level every day you’re with us!

Surf house & facilities

Our private rooms and shared dorms come with breathtaking ocean views and offer a tranquil and relaxing home away from home. We have a stunning infinity pool with views over the beach and the sea. There are sun loungers and canopy beds for you to relax and unwind in, plus multiple bar and lounge areas to hang out in and meet fellow surf travellers from across the globe.

Entertainment & things to do

Our surf house offer a friendly and social atmosphere, a place where you can meet others and socialise at breakfast or dinner, at sunset over drinks or when swimming in the pool. Our surf holiday packages include two days of coached Crossfit sessions, the use of our outdoor gym and three yoga sessions in our rooftop studio overlooking the sea. We also take you to the local souk, the region’s typical market, go camel riding, jet skiing or paint balling, to Paradise Valley, sand boarding and more!

Private Suite

Newly built on the top floor, our spacious suite boasts breathtaking views over our local surf spot with a private balcony and bathroom. The suite is beautifully furnished in a Moroccan style and offers you a stunning place to relax and unwind.

Double room & double room Deluxe

Our double rooms all have private balconies with panoramic views as well as en-suite bathrooms. The larger Deluxe rooms (18 m² rather than 14 m²) are situated on the upper level and have been newly refurbished.

Four bed dorms

These are our standard accommodation rooms. We have a total of four spacious 4-bed dorm rooms that offer ample space for luggage and are equipped with comfortable beds. Three of our 4-bed dorms have a partial sea view. The fourth 4-bed dorm room has no sea view and is bookable at a reduced rate.

5 bed dorm

Our 5-bed dorm room has a private balcony with stunning views over the beach and the ocean, perfect for watching sunsets and for early morning surf checks. The room is furnished with comfortable beds, has ample storage facilities and a private bathroom.

Morocco, surfing Mecca

Surf lessons

Our surf lessons are led by experienced surf instructors. Our local surf spot is K11, which is perfect for both surf beginners and intermediate surfers.

In our four or five day surf course, beginners learn the basics of surfing, including reading waves, paddling and standing up on the surfboard. Surfers with more experience learn how to steer their surfboard, how to create speed and how to perform more advanced manoeuvres, such as bottom and top turns.

To ensure quick progress, we have 2 surfing sessions per day, each lasting 2 hours. This approach also helps intermediate surfers improve their skills more rapidly.

Our surf lessons include the use of all surf equipment.

Surf guiding

We recommend our surf guiding to intermediate to advanced surfers. You are picked up from the surf house and taken to the day’s best surf spot best suited to your surfing ability. This may be one of our local waves or anywhere up and down on Morocco’s Southwest coast.

Please note that our surf couches have the final say over who gets to join the surf guiding trips. Surf guiding trips need a minimum of 4 surfers to run. Should you not bring your own surf equipment, surf hire is available onsite.

Aourir, also known as Banana Village, is conveniently situated near some excellent surf spots along the Moroccan coast.

Waves around Aourir

Banana point: An easy drop, a little mellow. An excellent training wave for your next step up to Anchor Point.

Devil’s Rock: A fun, easy-going beach break which turns into a good little wedge on West swells.

Crocs: A nice little wedgy left hander at high tide.

K17: Perfect, fun little right hander reef/ point break.

Waves around Taghazout

Panoramas Beach Break: A fun and wedgy right on hightide breaking over sand. Long foams ideal beginner surfers and long and mellow right handers when the waves get big.

Panoramas Point Break: Breaking about 50m away from the rocks, Panorama’s point can give the best barrels in the area when it’s good. Long, easy and hollow waves suited for intermediate to advanced surfers.

Hash Point: A fun beach break with a small point break to the right of the bay. Popular among the local kids after school and those too lazy to walk up or down the coast to the many other waves (hence the name).

Anchor Point: One of the world’s longest and most famous waves! The peak breaks in front of the rocks and can throw the occasional barrel, the middle section of the wave (500 metres) is a big open-faced wall allowing for multiple turns and, when the wave hits the inside, it starts to race and barrel.

Anchor’s Left: A fun high tide lefthander that also breaks off the point keeping the goofy footers happy.

Mysteries Beach Break: Often the best beach break in the area, with lefts and rights on offer and breaking throughout the tides. Rips make it easy to get out the back and the rocks on the beach provide the perfect place to sunbathe between surfs.

Mysteries Reef Break: Our personal favourite wave in the area! Easy to read, not too dangerous and mechanical. Each wave breaks like the one before over a shallow reef on take-off, allowing for barrels or fast hollow drops.

La Source: A rock bottom wedgy reef, unpredictable and fast but certainly the best bet when the waves are small and the crowds are thin. Get the right wave here and you’ll be offered barrels, air sections and open faces all on the same wave… get the wrong wave and you get a closeout.

Killer Point: Named after the killer whales spotted from the cliffs (although we have never seen any). Killer’s is a long perfect point break with a reef set up further out the back for those who like a long paddle. Perfect waves and often uncrowded due to the walk.

More Waves

Morocco has more waves than surfers! If you want to hire a car, our local guides can help you find empty, perfect and beautiful waves within an hour where from your accommodation. We can also tell you how to find these waves by simply using the very cheap (and fun) public transport or by joining our surf lessons and exploring with your expert surf instructor and guide.

Fresh produce from local markets

Our team heads out to the local markets multiple times each week for fresh produce.

Every morning, we provide a breakfast buffet with fresh fruits and vegetables, juices, teas and coffees, different spreads and cereals.

Lunch is a packed lunch for your surf lessons which you prepare yourself during breakfast before heading out to surf for the day.

In the evenings, our on-site chef prepares a variety of European and African dishes for you, all home made of course. We serve salads and soups, tajines, tapas and kebabs as well as pasta and rice dishes. Once a week, the surf camp staff and all our surf camp guests get together for a BBQ under the stars, definitely one of the social highlights of our surf camp week.

We cater for vegans, vegetarians and carnivores.

Exploring Morocco’s west coast

Tucked along Morocco’s coastline is Aourir, affectionately known as Banana Village. The quaint Moroccan town is a blend of nature and culture. Aourir and its landscape are adorned with banana plantations which lend the village its playful nickname. Here, you find traditional Moroccan architecture with a relaxed coastal vibe. Whitewashed buildings stand as a testament to the village’s cultural heritage, and spices hang in the air around markets where locals display their handcrafted goods, from rugs to ceramics.

Aourir comes to life during its weekly market which captures the village’s community spirit. Locals and visitors mingle in a colourful display of fresh produce and aromatic herbs. The town has gained recognition as a surfing destination, offering waves suitable for various skill levels. The village’s relaxed vibe complements the surfing lifestyle brilliantly. But the true charm of Banana Village lies in its welcoming people, locals here truly embody Moroccan hospitality.

Things to do further afield

Take a handful of Arabic, African and European traditions, mix them all up, add a pinch of colour, smells and spices and, there you have it, Morocco: one of the world’s most culturally diverse countries.

There’s so much to see, you need a few months to soak it all up. But a week’s surf holiday is most definitely a great way to start your Moroccan adventure.

Apart from great surf, we are in close proximity to a number of great destinations to explore while on surf holiday. We’ll take you to some of the local markets for fresh produce and Moroccan trinkets, you can ride a camel through the desert, we go to the legendary desert oasis of Paradise Valley, go sand dune surfing and more.

Our team can help you arrange day trips, just let us know what you what to do and we’ll get it organised for you!

Do I need a visa when travelling to Morocco?

For EU passport holders, Russian Federation, USA and New Zealand citizens a Visa is not required to enter Morocco for tourist purposes. You can stay in Morocco for up to 90 days and your passport should be valid for at least 6 months before your return date. If you are a citizen of any other country, please, get in touch with your nearest Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco. More information here: http://ma.embassyinformation.com

  • +

What are the rules for UK passport holders after Brexit?

British nationals don’t need a visa to enter Morocco for the purpose of tourism for up to 3 months.
When entering the country, make sure your passport is stamped. Some tourists have experienced difficulties leaving the country because their passport bears no entry stamp.
Your passport should be valid for the proposed duration of your stay in Morocco. However, the Moroccan Consulate General in London advise that your passport should be valid for at least 3 months on your date of entry to Morocco. If your passport does not meet this requirement you may face difficulties and you should check with the Moroccan authorities and your travel provider before travelling.

  • +

Can I drink alcohol and go out partying in Morocco?

It is not illegal to drink alcohol in the Aourir area, however, it is culturally insensitive to be seen drinking alcohol in the street with "the lads on tour"-attitude. There are supermarkets close by and you are more than welcome to bring any drink with you to the surf camp from the duty free store. We also have a bar!

  • +

Do I need to be insured when traveling to Africa?

It is compulsory that all our guests have their own valid travel insurance which covers surfing. We only partner with insured and reputable companies in Morocco ourselves, and, of course, we too have our own travel and tour operator public liability insurance.

  • +

Do I need any vaccines before travelling to Morocco?

It is not necessary to take anti-malarial precautions, and no vaccinations are currently required upon entering the country. However, we do recommend you consult with a doctor before departure. We have first aid equipment always at hand and our staff is trained in administering first aid. For minor illnesses and injury, there is a good pharmacy in Taghazout and, in case of an emergency, we can visit hospitals and clinics in Agadir. Medical charges may apply, so please ensure you have adequate travel insurance before you arrive.

  • +

    Are airport transfers included?

Yes, we include a return Agadir airport transfer for all guests who book a week-long package to our surf camp in Morocco.
Please let us know your arrival/ departure dates before arriving at the surf camp for your surfing holidays. Thank you.

  • +

    What's the currency of Morocco?

Morocco’s currency, the Dirham, is a ‘closed currency’, meaning you cannot, in theory, change money outside the country or take any with you when you leave. However, in practice, it is extremely easy to change any currency into Dirham upon arrival at the airport, at a number of ATMs and banks close by. Of course, Traveller’s Cheques are also always an option.

  • +

Can you help me find flights?

Of course, we can! You can always email our team and we help you find the best flights.
Budget airlines fly into Morocco from all over Europe with an average of around 100€ per return flight. If you’re flying into Marrakech, Fez or any other airport, use the very reliable bus transport between cities for around 15€ each way.

  • +

What's the weather like in Morocco?

Morocco has over 330 days of sunshine a year, so day wear consists of boardies/ bikinis and flip flops. However, it does get chilly the moment the sun comes down, so a pair of jeans and a hoody is often worth packing.

  • +

Which surf equipment do you recommend bringing to Morocco?

We highly recommend a 3/2 full-length summer wetsuit to maximise warmth and surfing time. We have a range of wetsuits, surfboards and surfing equipment available for hire should you not want to travel with extra baggage and BYO surf equipment.
We provide all surf equipment free of charge for our guests booked on packages with surf lessons. If you book a surf guiding package, please note that surf equipment isn not provided. You can BYO or hire surf equipment with us for the duration of your surf holidays.
