No. The trip is suitable for all levels of surfers. We will surf the waves according to your abilities and your surf experience. Bali and the sister island Lembongan where we stay in the second week has a variety of different surf spots for different surf levels. It is important that you fill in the pre-trip questionnaire that is sent to you with your booking enquiry so we can plan the trip as good as possible in regards to the different surf levels.
Yes it is. In your pre-trip questionnaire that you’ll send us back you can choose your size of board and if you want to hire a hard- or soft-top board. For the complete duration of the trip that board +equipment is yours. You can also go on some solo surfing sessions after the main lessons if you wish to.
You need to have a valid travel insurance that covers surfing outside of Europe. Prior to your arrival it is required that you let us know your insurance policy number and an emergency contact number. Please do not hesitate to contact our team for any questions concerning travel insurance requirements.
Other than that you need to bring your camera or Go Pro, high water-resistant sun protection, long or short sleeved rash-vests (lycra), sun hat or cap, flip flops, towels and of course your passport, travel documents, a copy of your health insurance and your credit card. It would be great if you could also pack your hard-drive or USB-stick so we can give you all photos and videos from your Bali Surf Experience at the end of the trip. For girls we recommend to bring some sport leggings or surf leggings to protect your knees on the surf board from bruises that might occur while surfing.
We have a "don’t leave the hotel with more than RP300,000"-rule. This will cover food and drinks for the day. The average price of a beer is between RP25,000 – RP35,000 (which is about €1,50) When it comes to souvenirs, everything is negotiable. Check the latest exchange rates, too. It can be difficult to obtain Indonesian Rupiah outside the country. We recommend taking a debit or credit card and using cash points. Our accommodations have safety boxes for passports and cash. If you budgeted £8 or 10€ per meal you will have plenty of food to eat. The shopping is excellent in Kuta and Seminyak for buying souvenirs etc., but you will need to budget extra. You can exchange cash or traveller’s cheques with Balinese money changers, but this is way less convenient than taking cards. We recommend taking at least 2 bank cards in case one gets lost, damaged or simply does not work.
Yes you need a tourist visa to enter Bali. For most nationalities you don’t need to apply for that prior to your trip. You will get a tourist visa that is valid for 30 days automatically on arrival and it will cost you $35 (US Dollars). We recommend that you’ll bring that amount in US Dollars already because there is no ATM at the arrival hall. Please note that you can not pay in Pounds or Euro there. However to check your personal requirements please visit the Bali Visa Website for more info.
If you plan to hire a car or motorcycle (if you are staying on longer or arriving early) you will need an international driving license, which can be obtained from the AA or RAC. It is a good idea to carry photocopies of your important documents (packed separately) and note that it is also easier to carry photocopies of relevant pages from heavy guidebooks etc. We also suggest that you scan copies of your important documents and email them to yourself.
We limit every trip to a maximum of 10 people to make sure the trip still gets a personal touch and everyone gets enough attention during surfing. The group is most of the time mixed – females and men – and all attendants have to be over 18 years old.
Yes for sure. We can help you to find an accommodation for the days before the actual surf trip with us starts. Unfortunately we can not pick you up from the airport and you need to make your own way to the first hotel of the trip. This will be the Echoland Bed and Breakfast Hotel. Airport pickups can only be made on the first day of the Bali surf experience. However getting a taxi from the touristic area around Kuta probably just costs you around 25 Euro.
